Project Aurora provides Rachel’s Vineyard™ retreats in Portland, Eugene, and Southern Oregon. Job Summary:

The Grants Development Director (independent contractor) is responsible for leading efforts to secure funding for Project Aurora’s core services (Rachel’s Vineyard™ Retreats, team member and Board trainings, and administration). This includes seeking grant funding opportunities, developing stakeholder relationships, and consulting with Board members regarding program strategy, grant funding needs and reporting requirements.

Project Aurora is seeking a part-time Grants Development Director with successful grant writing and administration experience. This job requires grant and mission-specific training; and will include a combination of virtual and in-person training, outreach, and education. Participation in Board meetings is also required.

This is a 10-12 hour/week position. This job requires constant flexibility due to regular travel and periodic evening and weekend obligations.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Write compelling grant proposals and secure funding to support Project Aurora’s mission and financial needs (including this position).
  • Research, prepare, and submit grant applications, including grant revision amendments, transfers and closeouts.
  • Coordinate with grantors in preparing grant applications and in obtaining funding approvals; and respond timely to internal and external customer and grantor inquiries.
  • Consult and serve as the subject matter expert in grant management strategies and grant reporting requirements.
  • Ensure proper grant processes and procedures are known and followed to ensure that grant requirements are met (including outcomes and measures), including timely, transparent, and accurate grant reporting to grantor and Board members.
  • Prepare accurate grant reimbursement requests based on the review and approval of grant related purchases to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders including outreach and education to secure ongoing financial supporters.
  • Participate in meetings with Board team members to understand organization’s financial needs to ensure organization receives grant funding to meet on-going annual needs.
  • Seek, secure, and maintain donor support; and prepare and send year-end charitable contribution letters to donors and grantors.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of the organization’s history and programs to aid in outreach and education efforts for fundraising opportunities.
  • Assist with all audits of the grant area, maintaining an archive of records according to policy.
  • Provide social media content management to support outreach communications to educate the public.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and experience in writing grants with proven success;
  • Experience preparing financial reports to support grant reimbursements;
  • Experience providing technical information to grant recipients regarding grant and accounting requirements;
  • Experience preparing correspondence to gather and acknowledge funding support; and  
  • Experience with non-profit organizations and their unique challenges in securing funding.
Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job are acceptable, which typically include:

  • Demonstrated work experience as a grant writer/administrator or similar role.
  • Proficient in project management including performance measures and attaining grant fund goals.
  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising information resources.
  • Exceptional organizational and writing skills, including meeting deadlines.
  • Intermediate level skill with MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree, training certificates or verified work experience in accounting, finance, creative writing or other related field.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing complex financial needs and audits.
  • Effective written, oral, active listening, and non-judgmental communication skills is a must.

Compensation and Work Schedule:

This position is a part-time, non-benefitted grant-funded position that includes a 90-day probation period. The pay range is between $20-25 per hour depending on the level of experience not to exceed $20,000 per year which includes travel and training related costs.
